gracious commuters

Hey guys, today im going to take a short break from sharing about love life, instead i shall talk about how to be a more gracious commuter, making every train trip a more pleasant one. Bear with me for awhile, but this topic may turn out to be another interesting topic, u never read u never know, so join me and read on. Hope no offense taken in my writing though.

Thus let me start off sharing my encountering and giving some pointers on how to be a gracious and considerate commuter while boarding the train. The first thing coming to mind is leaving out those priority seats to the elderly, pregnant ladies or injured personnel. Most of the commuters practice this, for they scare they might just somehow get stomped and go infamous while they are asleep on train, which i thought that is a good part about Stomp. Nonetheless there are still some commuters who despite the obvious label, went to sit at the priority seat. Some are even worst, they simply close their eyes, acting to be sound asleep so as to avoid awkward moments and leaving a clear message that i am asleep, please don't bother or wake me up during the process. Such people are not gracious at all, and should be stomped. Commuters should leave priority seats empty only for those needy people.

Thus apart from giving up those priority seat, we as gracious commuters can also give up our normal seats to those in need of them, say a pregnant lady, any mishap may cause a life or two dude, it can be that serious to be exact. You can't possibly expect in every flow of commuters into each cabin, there is only that handful of needy people boarding the train though, exceptions do happen, so when they do, be sure to give up your seat to them. I still remember myself giving up my seat to an old man who returned my kindness with a smile and even before he alight from the train, he ask me to have my seat back, it kind of touches me. Thus be gracious and you will probably receive a smile and a thank you from them, making a more pleasant trip for u and those in need, so start today.

During peak periods, the train normally floods with commuters, people trying to rush to work. Under that situation, you may want to take some initiative to move further into the train cabin in order not to flood right in front of the train door and blocking the commuter flow. Honestly speaking, I have seen a lot of inconsiderate commuters who simply stand in front of the train door for their own convenient sake. Despite knowing they are blocking others' way, they stubbornly stood there. Thus i urge you guys to be a little more considerate, move further into the cabin and leave the door way clear. You might think, why must it be me all the time? To be honest, Singaporeans are spontaneous, when one move, the consecutive guy will follow and the others will just gladly move in. Honestly speaking, do you dislike those people who merely stand in front of the train door for their own convenient and blocking your way when you are about to alight from the train? U do yeah? The same logic applies, so instead of being selfish altogether, why not try to be a bunch of gracious commuters to start with? I think that is a better choice, people feel good so will you. Whats more, when you don't jam up at the door step, you won't get push by the others who frantically want to move further into the train cabin.

Commuters tend to push or squeeze their way through for various reasons, especially true during peak periods. I do have a few unpleasant encounters with some office ladies and aunties who simply push me away with their handbags. I find it very rude though. When i am not even blocking your way and you push me, trying to squeeze your way past me, that is your fault. Its like a vice versa thing, you don't like to be pushed nor squeeze, so you don't do that to others too. Hence to those commuters who pushed others in order to squeeze and move further into the cabin, though your start point is good as u try not to jam up at the door, but u don't push, instead you might want to say excuse me so the others will notice you and kind enough to let you through without even squeezing.

This is a usual happening in train. People fart. Though i know it may be hard on you to control it at times, please try to hold a little longer till you alight. you know the train ventilation, its all linked, one fart the others who are against the wind direction, all suffer till the point when it eventually dissolve into the air. You will probably go, what the fuck! who fart?!? when you smell it and will try your ways and means to find out who that culprit is, I have being through it or should i say most of us experienced it before. Hence be gracious and think for others, try to hold or let out a little at a time, at least it can minimally reduce the smell of the fart.

There is always a bunch of commuters who like reading newspaper during their trip to work, maybe cos they find it time saving. Yea its absolutely fine if there isn't a lot of people, but if its otherwise, please try to think of other commuters before you start reading. I once board a train packed with commuters and halfway during my trip to school, i met this uncle who put his hand on my bag as a support, while he tries to read his newspaper. And I'm like what the...If you know the train is so packed, be considerate, don't read your newspaper. You know you need some space to flip open the newspaper, and when you do, it will only affect the commuters around you, you may accidentally pushed them whatsoever. You won't want others to push you by accident when they try to flip their newspaper, do you. Thus try to think of other commuters, be gracious and a little more considerate. You will create a more pleasant trip for you and other commuters.

Try to lower down your volume when talking on phone, even if somehow you happen to be arguing over the line, try be gracious, u don't wish to hear about others, so do they. Though this is not a common problem, but there are always a few cases whereby commuters simply ignore the existence of the others and talk loudly over the phone. Whats worst is when he or she uses vulgar in the midst of anger. What will those Caucasians think of Singapore. We as Singaporeans don't want that, do you? Our journeys can be made better if more people can be more considerate and gracious.

Next i shall move on to my encountering when boarding a bus. The same problem faced when boarding the train, commuters just don't want to move all the way to the rear of the bus, yeah i understand its a little inconvenient when you alight, but doing the bus driver a favor and move to the rear isn't that hard either. I have seen a bus with passengers who simply refuse to move to the rear, leaving a hell lot of space behind and got my friend so pissed till he scream from outside. People can't board the bus cos of those selfish passengers. What will you do if somehow you are the one rushing to work and there is a bunch of selfish passengers who stubbornly refuse to move to the rear, making you unable to board the bus? Hence be considerate to others or you might just suffer the same treatment one day.

Lastly, do try to press the door bell before you even see the bus stop so as to allow the driver to halt smoothly at the bus stop. I have seen commuters pressing the door bell only at the last hour, just before the bus stop, making the driver to halt the bus suddenly. This may cause those old aunties or uncles to lose their balance and fall. This isn't a laughing matter, it is very serious when old people fall. To avoid this from happening, commuters should be more alert and be sure of which stop they want to alight.

Having said all these, yeah though i know its easier said than done, i sincerely hope if you try to practice those pointers each time you board a train or a bus, you will become a gracious and considerate commuter some day, bringing smiles to others and to you.
